Gyeong (경) and Gap (갑) Day Master Compatibility

A push-and-pull dynamic

Gyeong (경) and Gap (갑) are two of the ten Day Masters used in Saju (Four Pillars of Destiny) astrology. If your Day Master is one and a partner, friend, or coworker's is the other, here's what the traditional Five Element relationship between the two tends to look like.

Gyeong (경) is traditionally described as the raw ore — decisive, dutiful, and unafraid of friction — a strong-willed doer with a sharp sense of justice. Gap (갑), by contrast, is traditionally read as the tall tree — upright, principled, and growth-driven — a natural leader with strong convictions, and a dislike of bending.

Gyeong (경)'s element (Metal) is traditionally read as restraining Gap (갑)'s element (Wood) — the "controlling" relationship in Five Element theory, the same cycle behind wood parting earth or metal cutting wood.

This tendency doesn't mean conflict is guaranteed — many traditional readings frame a controlling relationship as one partner grounding or focusing the other's energy in a useful way. It does suggest that friction, when it shows up, is worth naming directly rather than letting it build, since this dynamic can otherwise tip toward one person feeling managed by the other.
